  1. why did you make the direction of link AB counterclockwise and the direction of link BC clockwise?
    Did you just randomly give it those directions or is there a reason why?

    1. Unless reference angles are defined by the problem (which they rarely are in real world applications) we have complete latitude in defining the angles as we like them. I picked the angles here more or less at random; there may be choices that make the problem 'easier' to work out, but any alternate selection is only superficially different. As long as you traverse the mechanism using correct trigonometry based on the angles you chose then you are good.
